International Trade
For any organization or company involved in agriculture and agribusiness, international trade will determine the success of their corporate strategies. Implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Uruguay Round Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (WTO) has caused the international trade of agricultural producers to come under strengthened international disciplines. More recently, Congress has approved a free trade agreement with Central America, and the WTO is considering further trade liberalization. The demands of global competitiveness will require that agribusiness companies and organizations be actively involved in further negotiations to liberalize trade and to resolve tariff and non-tariff disputes. The experience and expertise of our attorneys and trade policy experts will greatly benefit our clients as we guide them through these processes.

Our attorneys also have much experience in successfully representing importers and exporters in a wide range of international trade matters involving USDA export programs, sanitary and phytosanitary measures as well as matters before the U.S. Trade Representative, and proceedings before the International Trade Administration, the International Trade Commission, the U.S. Customs Service and the Court of International Trade.
